Features and Benefits of Plexus MA8000 GB Series Structural Adhesives:

Plexus MA8000 GB Series structural adhesives are multi-purpose adhesives that can bond a wide variety of materials, such as plastic to stainless steel, aluminium to aluminium and cold rolled steel to cold rolled steel. These adhesives offer several features and benefits that make them an ideal choice for many applications, such as:

  • Superior adhesion involving dissimilar materials.
  • Aesthetically clean finish.
  • Prevents galvanic corrosion on metals.
  • Thixotropic beads with no sagging.
  • Minimal or no surface preparation.
  • Faster assembly than mechanical fasteners.
  • Excellent resistance to dynamic loading.
  • High impact resistance.
  • Excellent strength
  • Maintains strength greater than 75% after 1,000 hours of exposure to salt spray and dynamic loads.

Adhesive Types and Properties:

In the MA8000 GB series, there are three different types of adhesives: MA8105 GBM, MA8110 GB and MA8120 GB. Each type of adhesive has different working and handling times, allowing you to choose the right type of adhesive for your specific application.

  • MA8105 GBM: Working time of 3-6 minutes at 75°F (23.9°C) and minimum handling time of 25 minutes.
  • A8110 GB: Working time of 8-12 minutes at 75°F (23.9°C) and minimum handling time of 45 minutes.
  • MA8120 GB: Working time of 18-22 minutes at 75°F (23.9°C) and minimum handling time of 45 minutes.

Each adhesive type also has unique properties that make them suitable for different applications. For example, MA8105 GBM has a higher viscosity than MA8110 GB and MA8120 GB, making it ideal for vertical applications. On the other hand, MA8110 GB has a higher tensile elongation than MA8105 GBM and MA8120 GB, which makes it suitable for applications requiring flexibility.

In addition to working and handling times, there are other important properties to consider when choosing the right adhesive type for your application. These properties include the tensile elongation (%), the viscosity (cP) of the adhesive and activator, the operating temperature (°F/°C) and the maximum allowable retention of the adhesive before assembly.

Structural Adhesive Applications

If you're in industry, Plexus MA8000 GB series structural adhesives have a wide variety of applications, from bonding metals and plastics in the manufacture of automotive or boat parts to bonding electronic components in the manufacture of electronic devices.

These adhesives can bond materials such as steel, aluminium, plastics, composites, coatings and rubbers. In addition, these adhesives offer excellent fatigue strength and weather resistance, making them ideal for outdoor applications.

MA8000 GB series structural adhesives are also suitable for bonding dissimilar materials and are used in applications where a clean aesthetic appearance and the prevention of galvanic corrosion on metals is required.

Selection and Application Process

Selecting the right adhesive for your application is critical to ensure a durable and reliable bond. At Adhesive Bonding, we can help you select the right adhesive for your specific application and provide guidance on the application process.

Before applying the adhesive, it is important to ensure that the surfaces to be bonded are clean, dry and free of grease, oil and dirt. It is also important to consider the working and handling time of the adhesive to ensure that it can be properly applied and bonded before it cures.

Adhesive application can be done manually or by automated dispensing systems. At Uniones Adhesivas, we have experience in both manual and automated application of structural adhesives and can help you select the right application method for your specific application.
